What the cross-country ski service includes
The STANDARD cross-country ski service consists of base cleaning, waxing and polishing. We choose the wax according to the conditions you’ll be skiing in, remove the excess and polish the surface – the ski glides smoothly and evenly.
Classic and skate skis
For skate skis, glide is what matters most, so the entire base is prepped. Classic skis have a kick zone under the foot: this is where the ski has to grip the snow when you push off. This zone has a textured („fishscale”) surface, a skin insert, or is prepared with grip wax.
When you bring in classic skis, tell us what type they are – we will prepare the glide zones and won’t ruin the kick zones with glide wax.
- wipe skin skis after skiing and let them dry;
- store skis in a dry place, away from heaters;
- if your skis start to drag or „stick” in wet snow – it’s time for a service.
Where to ski in Lithuania?
Cross-country skiers’ favorite place in Lithuania is the Ignalina „Lithuanian Winter Sports Center” with its forest trails. When it snows, you can also ski in the parks and forests of many towns. If you are planning a trip to Scandinavia or to cross-country trails in the Alps, let us know – we will choose a wax for those conditions.

Frequently asked questions
Do you prepare classic skis with a skin?
Yes. We prepare the glide zones, but we don’t apply wax to the skin insert – it has to stay grippy on the snow.
Can I bring several pairs at once?
Of course – you can bring skis for the whole family or club. The technician will assess each pair separately.
How long does it take?
During the season (11.15–03.15), work in Kaunas is usually done within a day, in Vilnius within 2 days. Outside the season, the turnaround is by arrangement.
