Well-prepared skis mean confident turns on hard snow, easy gliding and less fatigue after a day in the mountains. Snow7 prepares skis with professional sharpening equipment, chooses the wax according to the snow and the direction of your trip, and repairs a damaged base so that the ski glides evenly again.

What’s included in the full ski service
A full service is everything your skis need before a trip or a new season. The technician first inspects every pair: assessing the condition of the edges, the scratches in the base and how much wax is left.
- Base preparation. We clean off dirt and old wax, repair minor damage and, if needed, flatten the surface.
- Sidewall correction. We remove the excess sidewall so that the sharpening stone or disc can reach the steel – otherwise the edge is sharpened inefficiently.
- Edge sharpening. We choose the side angle (86–89°) to suit your skiing style and fix any damage to the base angle (0–2°).
- Waxing. We choose the wax according to the snow temperature and the destination, and melt it into the base.
- Polishing. We remove the excess wax and polish the base with automatic tools – the glide is smoother and the wax lasts longer.

In the PREMIUM package, the base is waxed twice. The wax penetrates deeper, so the skis keep good glide for longer. We recommend it when you rarely have your skis serviced, when they have been stored for a long time, or when a longer trip to the mountains is coming up.
When do skis need servicing?
Skis rarely „break” suddenly – more often they gradually lose their qualities, and the skier unconsciously starts compensating with technique and effort. Watch for these signs:
- in a turn on hard snow or ice, the ski slides sideways even though it held before;
- the base looks grayish and dry, especially near the edges – the wax is gone;
- on flat sections your skis „brake” and friends skiing next to you easily overtake you;
- when you run a finger along the edge, you can feel nicks, uneven spots or rust;
- the base has deep scratches or chips from rocks.
When you ski in the mountains, the wax wears off after roughly 3–5 days of skiing. If you are going for a week, choose the PREMIUM package with double waxing – the glide will last longer.
Edge sharpening to suit your style
The edge angle determines how the ski behaves in a turn. A smaller side angle (e.g. 87°) makes the edge sharper – it bites harder into firm snow and ice. A larger one (89°) is more forgiving: the ski is easier to turn and „catches” less. For recreational skiing, an 88° side angle and a 1° base angle are usually the best fit.
We sharpen using a machine designed for professional ski tuning and precise manual tools. The machine sharpens the edge more evenly and sharper than a hand sharpener, and the edge wears down more slowly. Read more about edge sharpening and the edge bevel angle.

Wax to suit the snow and your trip
Wax is not just for speed. It protects the base from drying out, reduces friction and helps the ski glide evenly on different snow. We choose the wax according to where and when you will be skiing:
- universal all-temperature wax – for everyday skiing and training;
- fluoro-free wax – for groomed, closed runs and icy surfaces;
- temperature-specific waxing in several layers – for racing, wet snow and ambitious skiers.
To find out what wax your trip calls for, check the wax thermometer or read about ski waxing.
Base repair after falls and rocks
Scratches in the base don’t just look bad – they slow your glide, and deep damage lets moisture get inside the ski. We fill scratches with P-Tex material, flatten the surface and, if needed, fix the base edge. Base repair costs from 7 €, and the technician will agree on the exact price with you before starting work. Learn more about base repair.

Where can I drop off my skis?
We accept skis in Kaunas, Vilnius, Klaipėda and Šiauliai – at partner workshops. There is no need to book in advance: bring your skis during opening hours, and we will tell you when they will be ready when you drop them off.
Frequently asked questions
How long does it take to prepare my skis?
During the season (11.15–03.15) in Kaunas, work is usually done within a day, and in Vilnius within 2 days. Outside the season, the turnaround time is by agreement. If your trip is very soon, let us know when you drop off your skis.
Do I need to remove the bindings?
No. Bring your skis with the bindings mounted. If the bindings need to be remounted (22 €) or adjusted to your boots (7 €), tell us when you drop them off and bring your ski boots.
How much does waxing alone cost?
Waxing with polishing, without sharpening, costs 14 €; double waxing costs 24 €. If the edges no longer hold, it is better to choose the full service.
Is it worth tuning skis that haven’t been used for several years?
Usually, yes. We clean skis that have been stored for a long time, repair the base and edges, and wax them thoroughly – and they glide well again. If a ski is too badly damaged, the technician will tell you before starting work.
What to do with your skis when the season ends?
Store them properly: we sharpen the edges and cover the base with a thick layer of wax (17 €). This way your skis will spend the summer free of rust and without drying out. Read more about storage waxing.
